A raging new virus is forcing people to observe hygiene more carefully: treat their hands, do not touch their faces and, of course, disinfect the house. To wash floors for disinfection from coronavirus should be chlorine.
Italian scientists conducted a study that showed that sodium hypochlorite even in a small concentration (0.01%) damages a new virus in 2 minutes.
"White" will save your home from infection
The most affordable remedy with sodium hypochlorite - everyone knows "Whiteness". It contains from 4 to 30% of the active substance.
To get an active solution, dilute 1 tbsp. a spoon of "Whiteness" in 1 liter of water (0.06-0.45% solution).
The results of a study conducted in Italy suggest that such a concentration of bleach is more than enough to kill a new type of coronavirus as soon as possible. The information is confirmed by scientists from China and the USA. The following information is published on Wikipedia:
“Standard disinfectant cleaners using chlorine-containing antiseptics at a concentration of even 1:99 also killed the virus within 5 minutes.”
What flooring can be washed with bleach?
"White" is a powerful antiseptic and bleach. If you use it in its pure form, the floor covering will deteriorate: it will be covered with bright spots, it will begin to delaminate. However, with repeated dilution with water, the effect of bleach is softened.
0.01 percent solution can be washed:
- linoleum;
- tile;
- laminate;
- parquet;
- items in the house.
The solution is very weak and suitable for processing on almost any surface. Only carpets are prohibited. But if possible it’s better to remove them altogether. In a room with a carpet, sanitization is difficult, and sometimes impossible at all. Not for nothing in the hospital wards carpet under the strictest ban.
Sex is far from the only place where viruses can live. In the highest concentration, they are found on door handles, remote control, telephone, switches and other objects that often come into contact with a human hand.
How to sanitize the floor?
Cleaning with "White" requires precaution: the use of protective gloves and a mask. But in this case, resorting to remedies is not necessary. Repeatedly diluted bleach does not significantly affect the skin of the hands or respiratory tract.
So, how to wash the floors for disinfection from coronavirus:
- Type warm water into the basin.
- Add "White" at the rate of 15 ml (1 tablespoon) per 1 liter of water.
- Stir the liquid.
- Wipe the floor first in the hallway, then process the bathroom, and then the rest of the rooms. To process each room, prepare a new solution.
- After 2–5 minutes, wash the floors with clean water and wipe dry.
For the period of the quarantine, give preference to wet cleaning with bleach, and temporarily refuse dry. Coronavirus, like other viruses, settles in dust and dirt. When cleaning with a broom or vacuum cleaner, the virus particles do not die, but scatter around the house and infect the equipment.
Ready-made floor cleaners
Most housewives use ready-made floor cleaning products:
- Proper;
- Glorix
- Emsal;
- Bagi
- Mellerud;
- HG;
- Denkmit;
- Cillit and others.
In one way or another, they all have disinfecting properties. In theory, ready-made floor cleaners kill viruses. But there is a big “but.” They did not pass tests for the effect on coronavirus. Therefore, there is no guarantee of effectiveness.
Use your favorite floor cleaner. Dilute it according to the instructions, and at the end add 1 tbsp. a spoon of "Whiteness".
To date, only sodium hypochlorite has proven effectiveness, not counting 70% alcohol and some other antiseptics, which are not practical for mopping.
How to replace the "White"?
By any means containing sodium hypochlorite: Domestos, Sanfor and analogues are suitable. Before buying, pay attention to the information on the package. If this component is indicated in the composition, the product is suitable for disinfecting the floor.
How often do I need to clean the floor to disinfect from coronavirus?
From 2 times a day to 2 times a week. There are no clear recommendations in this regard. It should be based on the presence of patients in the house, the frequency of visits to public places by households. In hospitals, chambers infected with coronavirus are treated 2 times a day.
The bad news is that COVID-19 is highly contagious and can persist on surfaces for 7 days or more. The good news is that the virus is sensitive to disinfectants. It can be destroyed by alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, bleach. It is the latter that is recommended to be used to disinfect rooms from coronavirus.
