From recycled cardboard, a good and, importantly, cheap mass for papier-mâché is obtained. Having dried, it does not fade, does not crumble, and after proper processing it calmly withstands high humidity.
The easiest way to prepare a mass for modeling:
- Hands to break the tray as finely as possible. At this stage, it is better to connect homework, so the process will be faster and more fun.
- Load in a linen bag without holes and tightly tied with a thread. It is better to make a few small bags.
- Send to the washing machine. Settings: 90 degrees, spin 400 rpm.
- If the mass is too wet, put on cheesecloth and let dry.
- Most likely, the mass will be wet, but not wet. Such - to take out and crumble into an electrocopter. This is done simultaneously and does not take much time.
- Grind.
- Pour the finished mass with PVA glue in a ratio of 10: 9 or 1: 1. The result should be a plastic dough that does not spread, is easily molded.
Tip
It is more convenient when there is paper on hand that remains to be diluted with glue. Therefore, it is necessary to chop and scroll more egg trays in the chopper. Then pour part of the glue, and put the remainder on a baking sheet and let dry.
Egg Tray Stones
From the mass of papier-mâché an effective and rather easy imitation of stone is obtained. For construction, the mass will have to be harvested in large quantities, so we recommend changing the technology a bit:
- Tear the trays in large pieces and load into a 10-20 liter pan. The container should be high.
- Pour in hot water to close the scraps.
- Leave it overnight.
- In the morning, chop and mix with a construction mixer or drill with the right nozzle. The procedure will take about 5 minutes.
- Add PVA glue so that the mass is very soft, like a good plaster.
- Throw lumps on the wall and form stones to your taste. Between the stones boldly lay your fingers.
- Leave to dry completely, and then go over the liquid putty. It will smooth out the notches and roughness of the “stones”.
Tip
Use just PVA. As the experiments of the masters showed, with wallpaper glue, the mass turns out to be more convenient for sculpting, but as it dries, it compresses the material, so that the stones turn concave.
Egg Tray Bricks
To decorate the wall in a trendy design, it is not necessary to buy wall panels. If you have time, we recommend to do modeling: methodical work calms, and the result is no worse.
Wizards use two methods to make brick imitation:
- similar to “masonry”, when paper plaster is thrown on the wall, then “bricks” are formed by hands or a suitable box;
- assemble a box with partitions and make full-fledged flat tiles in it and fix them to the wall with Moment glue.
3D wall of egg trays
It is not necessary to make papier-mâché for decoration. The craftsmen found that the egg cartridges themselves looked great on the walls, like factory 3D panels:
- Select cassettes from a relatively dense cardboard, the wrong side of which is uneven, rough.
- Unroll the cleaned wall and glue the cassettes with the rough side out (the rims around the edges need to be cut). Use PVA, wallpaper or instant glue for wall panels.
- The outside corners are covered with a ready-made composition or a mass of papier-mâché from egg trays.
- Prime with PVA liquid solution by spraying it with a spray gun.
- Fix cardboard with 1-2 layers of undiluted building PVA.
- Paint with waterproof paint.
The effect will amaze you. And an important plus - these wallpapers are easy to restore. And the material can be bought very cheaply, having agreed with a kiosk where they sell eggs.
Egg tray mouse
From a cardboard or foam box from eggs, a funny mouse is obtained. If you stick to it a “dress” from a fabric napkin or a stitched mittens with two paw fingers, a pershack doll will come out.
Instruction:
- Using a pen, draw a silhouette of a mouse head around the first “pin”: circle it, it will be the nose, and two circles at the top on the sides (ears).
- Circle and cut the corner wall of the box with a recess to get the nape / back of the mouse.
- With a glue gun, connect the two halves.
- Put a fishing line in a thick needle and sew through your nose to make a mustache.
- Pass the string and tie a knot so that the tail appears in the mouse. Or stick the body out of the ring (a piece of reel from toilet paper) and a tissue.
Egg Tray Flowers
The shape of the recesses of the egg cassette resembles a cup of a flower, this was noticed and applied by needlewomen.
Egg Trays Poppies:
- Cut two nests from the second row.
- Trim the corners to make a cup with a straight edge.
- Cut the walls into 2 halves, bend to work more conveniently.
- Trim the edges so that you get two wide round petals.
- With insert the cup-petals into each other and fasten with wire or glue gun.
- Paint, shape a pestle of plasticine or other material and place in the center.
- The stalk is usually made of wire wrapped in cloth, corrugated, velvet or plain colored paper.
Roses from egg trays:
- Cut out 7 slots and cut off the bumps to get a smooth edge.
- Make 4 cuts and form 4 elongated petals with a round edge. Use 6 cups of 7.
- Heat up the glue gun.
- Glue 2 opposite petals in the first "outlet".
- Firmly stick the remaining 2 petals to the resulting core.
- Glue the second outlet to the first one and also firmly glue the petals to the central part. Leave the tips free and slightly bend.
- Glue the petals of the third outlet on the line just above the middle.
- The fourth - in the middle of each petal.
- The fifth - just below the middle line of the bud.
- At the sixth, only glue the base of the petals.
- Give a proper grasp and bend the edges of the petals, like a real rose.
- Spray the scarlet color. Shade the ends with a brush.
- From the 7 nests, make sepals similarly to the petals (they are elongated and pointed), paint in green, attach the stem from the wire and glue the green part with a rose.
Tip
Spray paint is not always there, so it is logical to paint and dry the petals before gluing. The paint must be absorbed into the cardboard, otherwise the gluing will be unstable (a thin layer of paint will come off, and the petals will diverge).
Egg Tray Lamp
You can glue the lamp from strips cut from egg boxes. It is recommended to cut the bottom of the nests - for ventilation. A spectacular lamp is obtained from flowers cut from an egg cassette, painted and glued together:
- Form flowers like poppies, daisies, etc., with an open center.
- Make holes in the hearts.
- Glue together or stick on a base of cardboard, egg sections or mesh, forming a ball, cylinder or other shape that is pleasing to the eye.
- Glue the upper edge to the circle from the egg cassette or attach it with wire / thread to the wire ring with diametrical crossbars.
- In the hearts, thread the pictures (lamps from an inexpensive garland), fasten the pieces of electrical tape from the inside.
- Hang or place it on your “leg” like a regular shade.
Egg trays are excellent raw materials for crafts and even for construction. In the frozen form, the mass of trays and glue is strong, moisture resistant, and durable. Raw materials cost a penny at a price, and the work technique is not much different from purchased materials.
