Those who are not too lazy to look through the news know: China now affects not only the scale of its industry, but also a virus previously unknown to science. So far, the picture looks like the plot of a Hollywood movie: doctors in protective suits, quarantine, isolation of entire cities in an attempt to prevent an epidemic and the first cases of death ...
What are the chances that the 2019-nCoV coronavirus will reach Russia? Judging by the fact that the infection has gone beyond the PRC, it’s not zero. Therefore, we prepared a memo in case of an exacerbation of the epidemiological situation in cities.
What do you need at home if an epidemic starts?
The most important thing that a person should have in case of a viral threat is common sense. It is important to realize that not all information received from the media and online forums turns out to be true. There are people and organizations who are profitable to sow panic. Therefore, the first rule is to evaluate any rumors and even official data critically, not succumbing to universal hysteria.
However, forewarned means armed. If the coronavirus epidemic begins, the best solution is to stay at home, avoiding crowded places. These places include shops. Therefore, it makes sense to stock up on goods in advance that may come in handy during forced retreat.
List of items that should be at home in the event of an epidemic:
- Medical masks, respirators.
- Medical thermometer.
- Antiseptics (alcohol, chlorhexidine, antibacterial hand gel, etc.).
- A lot of disposable paper napkins. You can also buy wet antibacterial wipes.
- Disposable gloves (several pairs).
- First aid kit with basic medicines and first aid supplies.
- Soap (preferably household or antibacterial), shampoo and other hygiene products.
- Washing powder.
- Serviceable iron.
- Antibacterial compounds for cleaning bathtubs, sinks, toilet bowls. You can buy the usual "White."
Antibacterial agents are not known to guarantee protection against viruses. But they need to be used in order to maintain hygiene, since in a house where the whole family is locked, the likelihood of developing a variety of pathogens increases.
It is worth remembering that the virus is afraid of high temperatures. So washing at 90 degrees and a hot iron are your best friends at the time of an exacerbation of the epidemiological situation.
Products that are worth stocking should not be perishable:
- Flour.
- The eggs.
- Cereals.
- Pasta.
- Frozen convenience foods.
- Root crops (potatoes, carrots, beets).
- Onion garlic.
- Canned food (meat, fish).
- Bread rolls.
- Dried fruits, cookies.
It’s better not to go shopping so as not to pick up the virus. You can buy products in the Ozone online store.
A separate and very important point is an adequate supply of drinking water. You can buy several five-liter bottles.
For the rest, focus on your own needs. Sit and think, without which you can not live for, for example, a week. Complete the list with items that are important to you personally. Perhaps you wear contact lenses - which means you need to stock up on the lenses themselves, as well as the solution in which you store them. Do you have a pet? Then you need to take care of the stock of provisions for him.
If you are forced to constantly take any drug, buy it with a margin of at least a month.
Infection prevention
Most importantly, do not contact anyone who might be infected. This means that it is not worth going to Asian countries (China, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam) and nearby. If you live in large cities, avoid tourist spots. After all, we all know how many Chinese have lately flown to Russia as part of group excursion tours.
Crowded places now should be avoided, regardless of whether there are Chinese there or not. Perhaps someone in the cinema hall a couple of days ago flew from China and does not yet know that he brought with him something superfluous.
As you know, the original carriers of the coronavirus raging in China were animals. Therefore, it is important to avoid places of their congestion: exhibitions, pet stores, markets, zoos. While you should not buy fresh seafood, fish. Meat and other products of animal origin should be well-fried, boiled, baked.
The rest of the recommendations of the specialists of WHO and Rospotrebnadzor are as follows:
- Wash your hands before eating and immediately after returning home if you went outside.
- Take care of personal hygiene.
- Wear masks to protect your respiratory organs (in truth, conventional medical masks are designed to protect others from germs and viruses that you exhale, and not vice versa; to protect yourself from outside threats, you will need to purchase more advanced products that look like respirators).
- Drink only bottled water and only eat food after heat treatment.
- Follow the news, check the epidemiological situation.
- At the first sign of a respiratory illness, contact your healthcare provider. If you go to the clinic, and do not call the doctor at home, be sure to wear a mask.
Let's hope that the Chinese virus does not take root in Russia. In the meantime, we advise everyone to keep an eye out and not to neglect preventive measures. Be healthy and in no case panic!
